The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) held its annual Black History Month Luncheon to celebrate the achievements of the Black community and to call for continued advocacy and empowerment, with a focus on building a foundation of truth and education for the next generation.

Jada Ingleton is a Comcast Digital Equity Local Voices Lab contributing fellow through the Washington Informer. Born and raised in South Florida, she recently graduated from Howard University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and specialized in psychology. Jada’s passion for writing and storytelling has allowed her to reach greater heights and to see the world from a new lens. Since the foundation of her journalistic pursuits is a love for creative writing, Jada aspires to be the founder of a magazine publication. Her long-term goals include being an author and showrunner.
